Tasty Tuesdays - Homemade Cadbury Creme Eggs

Why is it that, when I'm at the end of my rope, exhausted and ready to just crawl into bed and escape to the Land of Nod, I decide to tackle an ambitious Easter treat? It's all for you, party people. You need this right now. And I must give it to you. Note: please forgive the suckiness of the photos. It was pretty late into the p.m. hours and I had to rely on incandescent lighting to illuminate my process. Not the best idea.

In anticipation of Easter Sunday, I wanted to try a new recipe that screamed childhood and tradition. The Cadbury Creme Egg is such a seasonal staple that it's hard to imagine spring passing by without indulging in the gooey goodness that exists within a crunchy chocolate shell. Just a word of warning: this recipe is not for the slow and lazy. I was surprised at how quickly a ball of sugar and butter melts in a warm palm :-|. Work fast and freeze after every step. It melted so fast, I couldn't even take photos of some of the steps! I hope you all try this simple-yet-sometimes-frustrating recipe. They taste pretty darned close to the real thing and are a great treat to hide in a kid's (or adult's) Easter basket.
