Thursty Thursdays - Pear and Vanilla Cocktail

It's not really clear why pears have the ability evoke the crispness of fall flavors and, at the same time, the warmth of summer. Add a bit of spice and the juicy fruit becomes a holiday cocktail. A bit of ice, a refreshing slushie.

This vanilla-pear cocktail combines both tastes and textures, and is a great complement to the fast-approaching autumn months. Here in LA, it's a bit difficult to tell what season it actually is. Triple digit degrees in October? This girl needs an ice-cold cocktail fast!

Vanilla, Pear, and Vodka Cocktail

  • 12 oz (1.5 cups) pear juice (freshly pureed pear may also be used)
  • 6 oz vodka
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, seeds scraped
  • vanilla sugar, for rim
  • 1 cup ice, plus more to serve over
Mix pear juice and vodka in a pitcher or shaker. Split open the vanilla bean and scrape the seeds into the juice and vodka. Add 1 cup ice, then give it a good shake. Pour into cocktail glasses over more ice and serve with sugared (you can use vanilla sugar) rim. Makes 4 drinks.

  1. This looks heavenly! Pears and vanilla are an amazing combination of flavors. It may be only 8am for me, but I'd love to sip on this right now.

Merci beaucoup!
