NYFW, I Love You (This Time, I Promise)

Ok, so I lied yesterday. I'm kinda sorta in love with some more NYFW gems. I thought about it and got out of the conformist headspace that I tend to live in during the day. But, in my fashion fantasies, I'm not afraid to clash, crop, and kick ass in mixed prints, multiple layers, and slits up to there.

Rebecca Minkoff
Rebecca Minkoff's show was one of the most wearable collections I saw this season, with her impeccably executed sheers and the color of the season - orange! Normally not one to gravitate towards color (esp. bold ones), this is one hue I can get used to. The silhouettes were flattering and fit for everyday with a little bit of slouch to give it a high fashion feel. Perfection!

Jenni Kayne

Did Jenni Kayne take a red pill (or was it blue?) and fall into Ralph Lauren's twentysomething daughter's daytime closet? I LOVE the urban chic feel of this collection! Believe me, it took me a while to pick and choose the three looks featured here. Carefully tailored denim trousers and structured-yet-fresh skirt suits were all the rage on this runway - perfect for a young professional with an eye for style. I mean. It's absolutely flawless.

Thakoon, Thakoon, Thakoon. Why must you torture us so with your quirky and cool collection? Bollywood meets Wild West? Genius! Though I would never dream of combining all of these patterns at once, I would love to incorporate pops of print in my closet. What I'm loving most? The wide shorts that kinda look like skirts, but are fresh and modern and perfect for a risk-taking fashionista.

Peter Som
Wow. Neon feathers? Sold. There is something so flirty and feminine about plumage and I loved the simplicity of the silhouettes at Peter Som. He accomplished something that most designers don't ever master: the ability to take monochromatic looks and mix them in a way that makes them pop. Oh, and that simple and sexy evening gown? Come on. That's the sexiest t-shirt I've ever seen! Leave it to a dude...

Zac Posen

If I were a famous actress invited to any red carpet event this season, I would look no further than Mr. Posen's perfectly poised evening gowns. How does he always kill it? Curve-hugging, architectural, soft, and structured. How does he do it? The grey dress with the sheer straps, plunging neckline, and fantastical mermaid hem...I have no words.

  1. I think one of those zac gowns will make an appearance on Sunday!

Merci beaucoup!
