Looking Over the Mountaintop

An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity. - MLK, Jr.

I hope everyone who has a day off from work is enjoying their mini vaca! I also hope that everyone, no matter what your work schedule is like, takes a few minutes to think about the changes that Martin Luther King, Jr. allowed for/introduced in the United States and worldwide. He was a voice among the voiceless and died for what he believed in. That is the type of role model that we need today, not only in politics, but also in everyday life - someone who is not afraid to go against the majority and stand for something; to let people know that spiritual emptiness comes from superficial greed; to show that you can make a difference that will make waves across the globe. When fashions fade and you are disrobed of all airs and possessions, all that is exposed is your beliefs. Make them mean something.

Golden Globes 2011

I love, love, love award shows and get so excited seeing the stars come down the red carpet. This year's Golden Globe Awards show was a little more special because, for the first year, I had seen almost all of the nominated films and developed opinions about them. Two points I must mention: #1, The Kids are Alright deserved every nomination/win; #2, sorely disappointed that Black Swan was nominated/won ANYTHING because that movie Not the popular opinion, but it's mine.

On to the fashion. Here's the good stuff - my top red carpet looks! I loved the emerald greens and the golden-nude hues. Most of all, I loved the risks that the stars took on the red carpet. Notably, Anne Hathaway and Emma Stone.

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa

Anne Hathaway in Armani Privé

Amber Riley in Oliver Tolentino

Dianna Agron in J. Mendel

Julie Bowen in Tadashi Shoji

Eva Longoria in Zac Posen

Mila Kunis in Vera Wang

Emma Stone in Calvin Klein

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta

You take my self, you take my self control

One day I will be as empowered as the woman in these photos. One day I will be the strong, confident woman who takes charge and grabs life by the balls. One day when I am able to wear a modern two-piece cowboy suit with a leather cowboy hat and stripes with polka dots. That day is not today. Try again tomorrow.

Lonny Love

Officially obsessed with this spread in the newest Lonny issue. Could an interior designer have ever put together a room quite as perfectly as this? It's as if she popped open my noodle and stirred the pot to pick out the essence of my design style. Is there such a thing as a decor crush? From the vintage touches to that monstrosity of a walk-in closet to the PERFECT kitchen cabinet stain. So current, so fresh. In love!

Poetry in Motion

If only in my life I’d be,
Lonely living on the sea.
I’d dream the life of you and me,
On an island on the sea.
If on the lonely island we,
Could only see what we could see.
I'd name the island "You and Me,"
And together we'll forever be.
Together we would come to be,
The lonely pair, just you and me.
And live forever patiently,
On an island on the sea.
