If you believe in love...

...and in need of a good cry, this sobfest will fulfill your wishes. A man in love, with the intention of proposing to his girlfriend, had Muppet look-a-like dolls made at FAO Schwartz to use them as puppets to make a movie of his proposal. He basically convinced a movie theater owner to let them show this movie as a mock trailer and took his girlfriend and 30 of their friends (without her knowing) to see a "movie." There's something about the silly love between the Muppets that is so moving. Don't say I didn't warn you...

Rain, rain, go away...

To a native Californian, heavy rains is a foreign concept. After an entire summer and fall filled with sunshine, Mother Nature is punishing us for taking her for granted. Even worse is heavy rain on a Monday. Blah! I hope your mornings start off right and that you guys have a marvelous day. Don't forget your umbrella!

All Dressed in White

As I mentioned somewhere in an article from years past, I come from the school of "Nicole Richie Can Do No Wrong." Well, last weekend, one of my fashion idols got married and wore what I like to call, "The Wedding Dress Heard 'Round the World" designed by Marchesa. I've always loved the idea of a long-sleeved wedding dress, but this one is something out of a 1980s fashion fairytale! I'm digging the antique lace and wide, obi-style waistband. Not a fan of the hair/makeup, but I think she looks lovely! What do you ladies think?

'Tis the Season!

I dream of the day when I can organize my own high glam Christmas card photo shoot and send it out to my (probably shocked) relatives. I can see it now - me, descending down a spiral staircase draped in diamonds and couture, my dapper husband at the base of the stairs holding my baby who will probably be in the buff. A girl can dream, can't she? Until then, I will swoooooon over the Kardashian family's annual Christmas photo, which is the stuff of my future fantasy. And how FABULOUS is the house that they used for the shoot?? Behold:

We will all laugh at gilded butterflies...

As a writer and a thinker, I owe a lot to one Mr. William Shakespeare. As an English major in college, it was difficult to get through undergrad without studying at least one of his works (I took several classes dedicated to one or two of his works at a time). Consider this editorial as a take on Beauty and the Bard. Can you believe all of the pieces in these images are modern? Model Ashley Smith, photographed by Sharif Hamza for Vogue Russia, wears modern-day period pieces by the likes of Agent Provocateur, Atelier Versace and Valentino Haute Couture. Indulge + enjoy!

Beautifully Bleached

I'm nervous yet thrilled about the upcoming weeks because they not only hold promise, but also potential disaster. Who doesn't like a little challenge, anyhow? Though I can't disclose what these big plans are just yet, I can mention that they will bring great things.

One thing I am giddy about is my upcoming room reno! There's finally a deadline (that's all a writer needs - another deadline)! We're changing the flooring in all of the bedrooms, which means hauling a whole lotta solid wood furniture out of my boudoir and bringing in a few glamorous pieces that I hope will make my space a little more enchanting.

I think I've decided on a bleached wood floors for a vintage, French country feel. I gravitate towards neutrals, and hardly incorporate color in my space save for a touch of blush here or there. I have never really been sure about wood floors in bedrooms (my toes like the tufts of carpet) and can't bear the thought of a dusty surface to walk on.

What do you ladies think? Do you girls dig hardwood floors in the bedroom?

New Yorker State of Mind

Have I mentioned how much I love vintage art? No? Well, I do! While browsing my daily flash sale websites (HauteLook, Gilt, Billion Dollar Babes), I came across this sale on RueLaLa that featured vintage magazine covers from The New Yorker. Art deco anything opens my eyes wide and makes me go "ooh," so these are the perfect prints for me and my collection! They range in price between $99 and $199. Check them out here.

P.S. Tarte cosmetics is offering 40% off of all items with code FFDEC til Dec. 13th! Get it, girl!

Addendum: Zara Evening Collection November 2010 Look Book

I will be posting days 3 and 4 of the fashion advent calendar shortly...I had to post this ASAP!

I can never say this enough: I love Zara! This is looking to be like more of a holiday wish list over here in Gigi Land. How amazingly avant garde is that red dress with the voluminous hem?! I'm going crazy over its minimalism. Very Jil Sander. I'm also digging on that leather cocktail dress. Enjoy!

Happy December!

Since the holidays are right around the corner, I've already begun indulging in pre-holiday treats like lighting warm pumpkin spice candles, drinking apple cider and getting teary-eyed at holiday commercials. I always have issues about what I'm going to wear for Christmas and New Year's and go on a mad shopping rampage while most of the world is scrambling for last minute gifts. This year, I made it easier on myself by putting together virtual outfits based on the different aspects of my personality and moods. I will be counting down the days to Christmas the only way I know how - with a fashion advent calendar. I just wish there was a tasty little piece of chocolate behind the flaps!

PS - I hate my blog layout and need to get a whole new look. More on that later.
