The Cross Design

Happy weekend! I love finding new websites that make my design-loving heart pitter patter with delight. TheCrossDesign.com is one of those sites that sells everything my creative mind desires. The store is located in Vancouver, Canada and is owned by Darci Ilich and Stephanie Vogler who have curated the most delightful collection of curiosities, antiques, finds and furniture and lifestyle items that will give your home a designer look. Here are my top 10 picks from the website:

1. Paris Patisseries Book, $49 CAD

My long-term goal is to build, design and open a fancy, Parisian patisserie someday (hopefully soon). I squealed the second I saw this book on the site.

2. Ritz Ice Bucket, $120 CAD
All I think about when I see this gorgeous ice bucket is all of the posh parties and pricey bottles of champagne it can house. And there is nothing more glamorous than a bit of bubbly. Perfect for a The Great Gatsby-themed party, no matter how passe it might be.

3. John Derian Notes Pencil Tray, $125 CAD

I love John Derian's home furnishings collections and this fun find is no different. I am attracted to all things vintage-inspired and collect anything that gives off a literary feel. This glass tray can hold anything from jewelry to odds and ends and would even look great on its own.

4. Bluster by artist, Patricia Larsen, $8,000 CAD

How soft and serene is this piece of art by Patricia Larsen? I love the organic glamour of the free-form design and can't get over how something so irregular and unstructured could evoke such concrete feelings of romance and radiance. The price is a little steep, but the impression is priceless.

5. Gordian Weave King Bench, $1,295 CAD

I struggle with my conflicting design styles and can never reconcile my love of mid-century modern with the vintage glamour that romances me. This bench encapsulates both with its Regency-style link trellis pattern and regal, Victorian-style wooden base with its carved rosettes.

6. John Derian Miss Valentine Heart Dish

It's my blog and I can repeat if I want to! My love and appreciation of John Derian continues with this absolutely magnificent heart-shaped dish. It reads: "Dearest, for your love I pine. Will you be my Valentine?" Are you dying?

7. Voluspa Elysian Garden Ceramic Candle, $40 CAD

I fell in love with Voluspa's new Maison Blanc collection which features luxe, sophisticated details such as this ceramic jar with hinged cap. The Elysian Garden scent, per Voluspa, is "Like speckled sunlight shining on trees into ferns, moss and grotto. A mix of sun warmed citrus fruit and gentle green foliage." Can we go? Please?

8. Ceramic Tea Collection, $10-12, CAD

Who doesn't love a good tea party? Even when sipping my nightly brew, I prefer to drink out of a beautiful teacup. It just feels fancier. This ceramic tea set is sold separately, but I can just imagine sitting on my veranda at my Tuscan villa sipping vanilla tea with milk out of this set and accompanying it with any variety of pastry.

9. Faceted Vase, $65 CAD
Any decorative accent that reminds you of diamonds is the perfect piece to include in your home decor. This faceted vase is cut and cornered like a shimmering jewel but is coated in a matte white to add a modern finish.

10. Beautiful by Hugo Guinness, $595, CAD

What's a better way to start the day than with reminding yourself of what is good and true? This limited edition lino-cut print (only 100 were made) is simple and stylish and will complement a minimal or masterful home. Get it.
