A Snapshot of My Past

As most of you know, I am and have always been an avid reader and writer. One of the first series that I started reading was The Baby-Sitters Club by Ann M. Martin and was obsessed with each character and her flaws. I identified with each character in different ways: like Kristy, I was a tomboy and didn't care about other peoples' opinions of me. Like Mary Anne, I was very shy and a little naive. Like Claudia, I had an eclectic fashion sense and loved to create anything I could with arts and crafts. Dawn was the typical California girl who grew up on the beach and loved the ocean. I could never identify with Stacey because she was way more sophisticated than I was and came from New York, bringing with her an inherent East Coast coolness. Just revisiting the characters makes me emotional and very nostalgic about the nights I would spend obsessing over every detail of Claudia's DIY sneakers or Mary Anne and Logan's relationship - all in the light of my reading lamp, of course.

The 1st BSC book in the series

After I finished the entire series, I moved on to others but none of them held a candle (or even came close) to the development of characters and plots as The BSC and I am overjoyed to announce that the author has released a new book called The Summer Before.

The new chapter is a prequel that looks into the lives of the four original girls before they formed The Baby-Sitters Club. It's currently in my Amazon basket and I think it's time I clicked the "Order" button. I can't wait to read it!
